Reverend Flatroc in Transparent White with Twin Retroblast Mini Humbucker Pickups
The Flatroc has always boasted two of Reverendβs mini-humbucker pickups, originally Revtrons, but now upgraded to the latest Retroblast models. Comprehensively designed to mitigate against the worst features of mini-humbuckers, these pickups nevertheless maintain the characteristics which have endeared their ilk to guitarists over the years. Retroblast pickups are neither under-powered or harsh – but have the midrange punch, chimey highs, and string-to-string definition for which mini-humbuckers are revered. Whether youβre looking for retro rock tones or that classic crunch, these are the pickups for you!
This being a Reverend, thatβs only the start! Reverendβs bass contour control has also been added, transforming the sound with the roll of a knob. Rolled right back it re-voices the pickups giving you some classic and vintage twang – it can make a humbucker sound like a single coil. With the Flatroc you get a guitar with bags of character and tonal possibilities.
Solid Korina body, Roasted Maple neck and Top Quality Components
The super cool contoured body of the Reverend Flatroc is made from solid Korina. This wood offers many of the same properties as Mahogany but with more consistency and lighter weight. Solid Korina resonates well and makes for a real lively and responsive instrument. The Reverend Flatroc also features a Roasted Maple neck, a feature pioneered by Reverend at this price point. The medium oval profile is very comfortable. It features a twelve inch radius Rosewood fretboard and medium jumbo frets. Roasted Maple is normally used on custom shop and high-end boutique built guitars. This is the smoothest, silkiest neck you will ever feel. Trust us! The Roasted Maple that Reverend have used has been kiln dried to remove most of the moisture. This results in a neck resistant to temperature and humidity. The advantages also include stability and increased resonance.
Tricked out Bigsby B-50 Vibrato
Reverend have also now fitted a Bigsby B-50 trem system, but not without some modifications of their own. Reverendβs secret weapon for Bigsbyβs is their soft-touch spring, which transforms the feel for a much more intuitive βbroken inβ action. This is combined with Reverendβs own roller bridge and Boneite nut, resulting in a supremely smooth vibrato which would be almost unrecognisable to Bigsby users of old. Reverendβs pin lock tuners are also an integral part of the picture, providing a highly stable foundation which allows the vibrato to be operated without fear of nasty string slippages.
Another new Reverend innovation can be found on the headstock; the triple string tree. This new string tree gives the E, B and G strings the perfect break angle over the nut. Pair all of this with upgraded pots, capacitors and a very satisfying ‘clunk’ from the new Pure Tone multi-contact jack socket and you’ve got a tour-grade guitar ready for the stage or studio night after night.
